ABOUT ME
From street photography to abstraction
About a decade ago, photographer Dr. Georgia Ortner began her journey into the world of photography during a backpacking trip through her native Romania. Since then, she has expanded her portfolio to include numerous international urban destinations that reflect her versatility as a photographer. Her work often reveals a unique connection between photography and the representational medium: the subject depicted is always interpreted by the way it is presented. Her works are mostly created spontaneously and without much staging, which gives them a natural and authentic atmosphere. She is driven by insatiable curiosity, passion and the stylistic device of communication. So it may well happen that a large pelican lolls directly in front of her camera while she is standing in front of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. But there is another recurring component in her images: the contrast between the supposed glitz and glamour of the world's hip metropolises and the rough and unadorned look of a small village near Havana, Cuba, composed of ramshackle houses. These contrasts come together in Georgia Ortner's work.
ABSTRAKTUR
"Abstraktur is a neologism of "abstract" and "structure" and describes my art"
In addition to street photography, Georgia Ortner has found another artistic language that has dominated for half a decade: Abstract motifs are given structure and thus life through an elaborate process of handicraft.

TRAVEL
"For me, art is a way to experience and share life with all my senses. My photographically motivated travels take me to vibrant big cities as well as to very remote places. Through photography I am able to communicate with and touch people all over the world. During my travels I gather a variety of experiences, which I incorporate into my work and implement in a creative way.
Creative work is passion, challenge and meditation for me. The artistic process of my photographs as well as the abstract series begins and ends with the emotions of a person- they are the essence of my art."
